About Us
Engineering built for small business
GIE Design provides contract electronic hardware development — working from concepts through prototypes and into production, focused on companies that need expert engineering without enterprise overhead.
Contract engineering for the full product lifecycle
GIE Design specializes in electronic hardware development — taking concepts from initial design through working prototype and facilitating transition into production. We are capable of everything from product development for new concepts to creating manufacturing solutions and integrating quality control equipment for existing products and processes.
Our goal is to partner with small businesses entering into new markets to create new technology, and to work with manufacturers to increase quality through upgrading or developing new equipment.
We focus specifically on contract work for smaller companies — providing the same depth of expertise found at large engineering firms, but with direct access to the engineer working on your project and without the overhead that makes those firms impractical for smaller engagements.
Industrial & embedded engineering
Our core focus is on industrial automation, electronic hardware, and embedded software — especially for test and measurement equipment.
Embedded Hardware
Microcontroller-based designs, custom PCBs, sensor interfaces, power management, and communication hardware for industrial and IoT applications.
Firmware & Software
Bare-metal C/C++, RTOS development, communication protocols (BLE, Wi-Fi, MQTT, SPI, I²C, UART), and data logging solutions.
Industrial Automation
Control system design, pneumatic valve control, production test and inspection equipment, and automation of manufacturing processes.
How we work
Discovery
We start by understanding your requirements, constraints, and production targets before any design work begins.
Design
Circuit design, PCB layout, firmware architecture, and mechanical design — with regular check-ins and design reviews.
Prototype
Build, test, and validate the prototype. Iterate as needed until the design meets specifications and reliability targets.
Production
DFM review, production package preparation, and support through first production run to ensure a smooth transition to manufacturing.
